Karen Ruby
Karen and her husband Ethan own Rebel Point Pudelpointers in Watertown, South Dakota. When they aren’t hunting, fishing or training, you will find them either at the hockey rink or softball/baseball field supporting their two children.
Karen grew up hunting and fishing with her parents and her enthusiasm for hunting and fishing has lead to numerous big game hunts such as deer, antelope, and elk. However, her passion has always been pheasant hunting. She enjoyed hunting with the family’s Britney Spaniels, but wanted a more versatile breed. In 2017 they welcomed home their first Pudelpointer, Hay Devil’s Imperial Red, (Tikka) and then adopted Tikka’s mother, Hay Devil’s Best and Brightest (Stella) in 2018. Recently they’ve been training Mountain Creek’s Alaskan Deacon (Drake) whom they got in 2023.
Currently, they are looking for their next hunting companion but most importantly the start of their new bloodlines of Pudelpointers. They love the Pudelpointer personality, their obvious intelligence, and intense hunting drive. Karen previously served as the NAPS Secretary and she’s thrilled to be on the Breeders’ Committee sharing her passion for the Pudelpointers.
Keith Simmons
Keith Simmons lives outside of Council Bluffs, Iowa with his wife Sarah and 3 children Henry, Riley, and Mary. Keith has a bachelor’s degree in wildlife ecology and currently works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a wetlands biologist.
Keith is the owner/breeder of Loess Hills Pudelpointers. He got his first pudelpointer in 2008, Hanz was a 4-year-old Featherfoot dog from a kennel in Nebraska that is no longer around. Keith was working for the Nebraska Game and Parks at the time. He picked Hanz up and headed back out to SW Nebraska where they hunted nearly every day after work. It was then that Keith fell in love with the breed.
Keith began breeding Pudelpointers in 2016 and produces on average a litter a year. He currently owns 5 Pudelpointers; Roxy, Murphy, Yogi, Dani, and Jaycee. Born and raised in SW Iowa, Keith pursues both upland and waterfowl with his dogs throughout the Midwest. Keith has been a member of NAPS since the beginning.
Stacie Cooper
Stacie Cooper brings a deep passion for versatile hunting dogs and a commitment to responsible breeding to her role on the North American Pudelpointer Society’s Breeder’s Committee. Her journey with Pudelpointers began through a desire for a loyal, capable hunting companion and has grown into a lifelong dedication to the breed.
Stacie is actively involved in NAVHDA. She values the importance of health, temperament, and performance in breeding and is committed to upholding the standards that preserve the integrity of the Pudelpointer. As a member of the Breeder’s Committee, Stacie is honored to work alongside others who share her passion, and she looks forward to supporting breeders in their mission to produce outstanding dogs for both the field and the home.
Stacie and her husband Shane own Jackson Point Kennels in Flat Rock, Alabama.
The North American Pudelpointer Society is proud to have among it’s members some of the best breeders in North America. To highlight those breeders and their accomplishments we’ve created the NAPS Breeders’ Program. The goals of this program are to connect prospective puppy buyers with breeders who meet and follow North American Pudelpointer Society (NAPS) breed standard and breeding requirements and to help breeders develop and maintain professional, quality breeding plans through education and communication. The breed standard and requirements have been developed and voted upon by the NAPS Board of Directors and its membership. By directing Pudelpointer puppy buyers to responsible, breeders, NAPS is helping to improve and protect the Pudelpointer in North America. By aiding breeders in the development of their breeding plans, NAPS is helping to maintain the performance, temperament, and health, of this superior versatile breed.
In order to be listed on this page you must be a member of NAPS in good standing, submit an application and pay an annual fee.
The Breeder Program is run by a volunteer committee of three NAPS members, in good standing, who have been appointed by a majority vote of the NAPS Board of Directors. The committee consists of at least one breeder and at least one non-breeder. This committee shall not act as breed wardens and will not evaluate every breeding by breeders on the list. Nor does the committee have the authority to approve or disapprove specific breeders, instead they will make suggestions to the NAPS Board of Directors on these matters. The committee’s sole role is to evaluate that a breeder’s breeding stock meets the NAPS breeding requirements and breed standards.

Blackhawks Grizzly (PP-005791) is a result of a breeding between I-80’s Deuces Wild and our female Paladins Allison Rox. Knowing how his mother “Alli” hunts I had a good feeling Grizzly was going to be something special and I was correct.
Grizzly has a brown medium dense coat with good furnishings. He and his mother are 65lbs and with stamina for days. During the hunting season, Grizzly spends no less than 4 days a week hunting upland, waterfowl from a boat or field blind. I would consider Grizzly to be a medium ranging field dog who loves our Iowa waters no matter how cold. He has a drive that is relentless when it comes to searching downed game but a steadiness to hold until released.
Grizzly’s demeanor is one that does not require much pressure when training for hunting or obedience and yet he retains what he learns with little to no refreshing no matter how long it's been. He has always wanted to please, responding well to verbal commands and hand signals. We have always believed in keeping our dogs in the house with us, exposing them to social interactions with other dogs as well as people. Therefore, having a good "off switch" is another trait we enjoy with both Alli and Grizzly. I’m excited to see Grizzly’s offspring and have no doubt his bloodline will continue to produce something special.
Our Kennel:
Canadian Gun Dogs is a family owned and operated kennel offering Pudelpointer breeding and professional training. Our passion for the breed started in 2020 after watching a TV segment showcasing the Pudelpointer. From there we purchased our first female Pudelpointer in 2021 and embarked on the journey of training and testing in the NAVHDA system. Fast forward to 2024, we now have two female Pudelpointers that have both successfully completed their NAVHDA Natural Ability and Utility Testing with highly respectable scores. We are also co- founders and active members of the North Point Alberta NAVHDA Chapter in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Our breeding program is focused on creating healthy, cooperative, driven, family orientated hunting partners. Our kennel motto is “Join the Family”, meaning that when you receive a puppy from us we embrace and support you as members of the CGD Pudelpointer family!

About Trench
Trench is a big running dog that will hunt cover 500 yards either side while on the prairie, lock in at 60 yards and wait ten minutes until you get there. He will adjust his range accordingly while hunting pheasants in tall grass. Trench is extremely forgiving with willingness to please like no other. He has an excellent off switch and is a very mild mannered dog. Although training is a daily excuse to go play, he lives to hunt. Whether its lunging into an ice filled river for a goose retrieve or pointing multiple hens before a rooster is located, Trench is in his natural element. We hunt anywhere from 40-60 days a year which include: Ducks, Geese, Roughies, Sage and Sharpies, All brands of quail from Montana to Arizona. Pheasants as well. Trench treats all birds equal, they are prey, he loves his pigeons right off the back porch just the same as any mentioned above.

What can be said other than WOW! He goes by many names El Duque, Dukeasaurus, The Beast, and The Magician. Duke brings a tremendous work ethic to the duck blind and the field displaying determination and grit that seemingly makes birds appear. Whether it’s hitting an area that another dog has covered and slamming on point or diving into icy waters to retrieve a downed goose or wing tipped duck that has landed in ten-foot tall Phragmite, Duke produces.
Over the last few years, we have hunted mostly wild birds with an occasional stocked pheasant hunt only when introducing new hunters to the game. Duke's range in the grouse and woodcock woods is anywhere from 80 to 120ish yards. He adapts to cover well and hits objectives throughout his search. He will hold initial point forever and will indicate to you upon your approach whether the bird has moved on or not (you get the look like “way to go the bird walked off!”) after which he will relocate demonstrating a tremendous tracking ability. Duke shines brightest after the shot displaying a tremendous ability to mark downed birds and will retrieve to hand every time. I hunt a lot with other dogs who are usually intact males and have never had any issues. The hunt becomes more of a team play in these scenarios. Duke is a competitor and wants to be first to birds but also respects another dog’s point. The duck blind is where Duke is in his glory. He sees incoming birds before you do, and marks downed birds extremely well. He is a steady dog so much so that he and I hunt out of a kayak together with no problems. His relentless search for downed birds is an awesome experience to watch. Duke has successfully tracked multiple deer for bow hunters and has even retrieved a dead buck that died in a lake.
Duke is a highly intelligent dog who was a breeze to train. Once a concept was understood the lessons taught to him stuck with little if any reinforcement. He has a tremendous ability to take training and apply it to different scenarios in the field that he may not have encountered in the past. Duke is extremely tuned into the family and seemingly understands what you are saying to him.
On the flip side of all the field work and in my opinion, most importantly, Duke is a gentle dog with an old soul. He is happy in the home playing in the yard with my children and occasionally sharing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with my son. If he could climb in your pocket, he would. He is everyone’s friend including other dogs and greets everyone with the same friendly welcome. He is a great member of the family!

About Paddy
Paddy is even-tempered, biddable, drive and is an efficient hunter. His best traits are his co-operation and is eager to learn. Paddy is a medium range hunter with the determination, drive and endurance to do long hunts. Paddy has proven his natural bracing ability. He has hunted Sharp-tailed Grouse, Chukars, Ducks and Pheasant. He will retrieve in late season cold water and hunt in the snow. In the home Paddy is the perfect family companion. He is even tempered, gentle with people, children and other dogs. Outside of hunting Paddy enjoys rally obedience and agility. I hope to continue to strengthen the pudelpointer genetic lines with puppies out of Paddy.
At Harvesthills Pudelpointers, I strive to breed dogs that are of good temperament, know their job in the field and do it well. I produce dogs that are great in the home, with kids, people and other animals (no guarantee on cats – lol). I also like my dogs to know when its time to “work”, time to “play” and time to “relax”. The dog spends more time in the home as a pet than a hunting dog. Therefore, the dog must have a good temperament in the home, with kids, people, and other animals. Temperament is also required for the “working” dog – it is key to the dog working for you and with you to put game in the bag. I am very committed to the Pudelpointer and maintaining the breed standard for this beautiful breed. I am always trying to do better, do more and educate others about the breed. The breed has become very popular recently and more than ever we need to ensure the standards that make our breed so fantastic are met and maintained (if not exceeded). I make sure NAVHDA testing is completed and meets the required standard as outlined by NAPS. I breed to maintain a Coefficient of Inbreeding to 10% or less. I am not a genetics expert and therefore would not attempt line breeding - I leave that to those with greater knowledge and experience than me. I will also begin DNA testing all of my breeding females this year. I believe the information gathered with DNA testing will be vital to the ongoing health of the breed.
Dogs in my kennel:
- Foothills Autumn Joce - NA 1, UT 2, Coat Ff (Retired)
- Iwan's Strumming Harper - NA 1, UT 3, Coat Ff (Retired)
- Harvesthills Keziha - NA 2 (108), UT 1, Coat FF (Retired)
- Harvesthills Shavonne - NA 1 (110), Coat FF- Potential Breeding in 2026
- Breeding to maintain the furnishings – these are “ugly dogs” and should have furnishings.
- Not breeding a dog prior to being able to have certified hips, and ensuring the hips are at minimum OFA Good or Excellent or a Penn Hip Distraction Index that is at or better than the mean.
- Paying attention to the head structure of the breeding pair to minimize the issues that are starting to show up with teeth (Base Narrow, Overshot, Undershot, Butt Bite, etc.).
- Ensuring the dog has been NAVHDA Tested to the breed standard minimum.
- Any other health testing required (Brucellosis testing for instance).
I train and handle all my dogs in their NAVHDA tests. I am actively involved in my Chapter. I am a NAVHDA Senior Judge, and now with 12 years of training experience (always learning) I help and guide members of our club to get the best from their hunting dog(s). I have guided hunts with youth, veterans and new hunters. The dogs love to please and work for you to get game in the bag! I get out hunting as many days as possible while working full time. I take my vacation time in the fall so usually get 20-45 days hunting with them in all types of terrain. Watching the dogs work birds is the pinnacle for me – seeing them work together to pin a pheasant, treeing a ruffie, all backing the first dog on a covey of Sharpies, diving for ducks. Sometimes I am so in awe of them I forget to shoot – then get the stink eye!
When you get a pup from me:
- I provide a 2-year health guarantee for genetic related issues. This is void if the dog has been spayed or neutered prior to 2 years of age. I also void this if the client has been running the dog long distances prior to vet approval of the growth plates being closed.
- I provide 30 days pet insurance.
- I register all litters with NAVHDA.
- I microchip all my puppies.
- I register the litter and have the pedigrees sent directly to the owner.
- I deworm every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age and send home an Interceptor Plus dewormer with the pups when they go home.
- They have their first vaccinations done at 8 weeks of age.
- I will have been using a Dremel on their nails weekly from 5 weeks of age and clippers prior to that.
- I dock the tails and dew claws I prefer not to remove.
- I handle the pups individually (hold, challenge, etc.) at a minimum of 10 minutes, twice daily.
- I get the pups on at least wing prior to going home.
- Introduction to water with a puppy pool in winter months and in spring summer I get them out swimming.
- I do noise introduction which includes gun fire, motorcycles, lawn mower noises etc. I do cap gun intro at a minimum, weather dependent starter pistol and shot gun (from a distance).
- The pups get socialization with children and other people and dogs daily.
- I send home a “Now you have your puppy – what next” list of things to expect, things to do, equipment to purchase and links to resources.
- I signed up with the Good Dog program, and was accepted, however because they are not in Canada, I can not registered – I do try to follow their guidelines.
- Every pup gets a “Go Home” Bath (and have had baths prior to this as well), and I make collars so each owner get a new collar with a brass name plate for their pup.
- I also give my owners Harvesthills Swag – jacket, hat, bag, tougue, t-shirt – I get different stuff all the time. All get the hat for sure!
- I am a registered breeder with Purina so my pups get a Purina swag bag as well.
- early neurological stimulation,
- scent stimulation,
- puppy enhancement program including problem solving activities.

On short hunts Willow typically runs 12-15 miles and has put on 28 miles on long days in chukar country. Her feet have held up very well in high desert conditions.
At the duck blind she is quiet and extremely calm, often sitting for hours in her blind without moving or making a noise.
About Us
High Winds Pudelpointers owned by Steve and Melinda Pore
We purchased our first Pudelpointer Skye in February 2020 and quickly fell in love with the Pudelpointer breed so much so that we started a search for our second Pudelpointer. We were fortunate enough to get Rosie (Pioneer Ginger Rose ) September 2021 from Pioneer Pudelpointers.
We are not a large breeder with multiple litters each year, we breed our female to produce quality family dogs that will excel in the field as well as in the water and live in your home with you as a family member, friend and companion. We hunt with our Pudelpointers and live with them in our home, and they adore our grandchildren.

Our mission is to produce versatile, intelligent, and well-rounded dogs that excel both in the hunting field and as loyal family companions. With a deep passion for the breed, we carefully select our breeding pairs to enhance natural hunting ability, trainability, a strong desire to work, and a calm, balanced temperament.
At Jackson Point Kennel, we prioritize early development to give each puppy the best foundation possible. We utilize both Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) to build resilience, improve stress tolerance, and enhance natural scenting abilities. Our puppies are introduced to birds and water early on, ensuring they develop the confidence and instincts essential to becoming successful hunting dogs. Additionally, our puppies are raised in a loving family environment with plenty of socialization, helping them become adaptable and well-adjusted companions.
Our dogs are proven performers. We stand by the health and well-being of our puppies, providing health guarantees and conducting genetic testing to promote strong, healthy bloodlines. All puppies come with NAVHDA registration, and we encourage our puppy buyers to continue their dog’s development by participating in NAVHDA training and testing programs.
We are passionate about preserving and improving the Pudelpointer breed for future generations. Through our commitment to responsible breeding, rigorous training, and active involvement in hunting and breed organizations, we strive to share the unparalleled experience of owning a Pudelpointer with others.
Whether you're looking for a full-time hunting partner or a weekend warrior that spends their weekdays relaxing on the couch, we are proud to offer puppies that exemplify the very best of this versatile and remarkable breed. At Jackson Point Kennel, we are committed to producing dogs that excel in the field and seamlessly transition to being calm, loyal companions at home. Our Pudelpointers are bred to meet the highest standards of performance, temperament, and health—perfect for both the passionate hunter and the loving family.
Delta is a shining example of the versatility and natural ability we aim to produce in our dogs. Delta was intentionally bred to excel as a strong waterfowl dog, and she has lived up to every expectation. From just two months old, she was diving off our dock into the pond, showing an early love for water. Swimming and retrieving are second nature to her—she never tires of either. Her remarkable nose makes her invaluable on hunts, especially when tracking down crippled birds on the water.
Delta’s talents are not limited to waterfowl hunting. She has accompanied us on numerous hunting trips, including to the grouse woods of Michigan and the pheasant fields of Iowa. She has also hunted bobwhites with precision and enthusiasm. Her ability to adapt to various terrains and game demonstrates the versatility that defines the Pudelpointer breed.
When not hunting, Delta is a calm and easygoing companion. If you let her, she'll quietly lay on her bed for hours, only stirring when it's time to eat. This balance between intense focus in the field and calmness at home is exactly what we strive for in our breeding program. Delta embodies everything we love about the breed: intelligence, drive, versatility, and an easy-going nature. She continues to inspire us as we work to produce more Pudelpointers with these remarkable qualities.
Duke is our rockstar and a true testament to the versatility and drive of the Pudelpointer breed. Duke rises to every training challenge with enthusiasm and determination. On the prairie, he covers ground quickly and efficiently, with a range of up to 250 yards, while instinctively adjusting to hunt closer in more demanding terrains. His dedication and skill earned him a remarkable Prize 1, 201 on his Utility Test (UT)—a reflection of his exceptional talent and trainability.
Duke is a dog who can truly do it all. He thrives in waterfowl hunting, whether it’s swimming across big open water to search for a crippled duck or sitting patiently in a blind. His upland hunting résumé is extensive, including hunts for sharptail grouse and Hungarian partridge in Montana, grouse in Wisconsin, pheasants in Iowa, bobwhite quail in Kansas, and snipe and woodcock in the swamps near home. When birds aren't available, Duke eagerly hunts squirrels and rabbits, showcasing his adaptability and drive in any situation.
Despite his impressive field performance, Duke is just as happy being a family companion. He loves spending time with our family—whether it's laying quietly on our daughter’s bed all day, joining us on camping trips, or riding along on kayak adventures. His ability to seamlessly switch between a hard-working hunting partner and a relaxed family dog is exactly what we strive for in our breeding program. Duke’s achievements, versatility, and calm temperament continue to inspire us in our mission to produce world-class versatile hunting dogs.

We are a family run kennel based in the Loess Hills in southwest Iowa. We have owned pudelpointers since the early 2000s and started our own breeding program ten years ago. We work hard to ensure that you receive the highest possible quality pudelpointer. We are always keenly aware that the bloodlines of these dogs are credited to those who have intentionally bred and maintained the integrity of these dogs. In 2019 we imported a male from the Czech Republic to enhance the genetics at our kennel. To those who have strived to maintain the integrity of the breed before us, we say thank you!
Our goal is to produce true versatile hunting dogs that thrive hunting for upland game as well as waterfowl, while continuing to be a great member of the family. We love to hunt almost as much as we love our dogs. We have three young kids that help us raise the puppies, bringing them up in a family environment. Our last three breedings have resulted in natural ability breeder’s awards, a tribute to the great puppy owners we have and the quality breedings. We encourage all puppy owners to join North American Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) and test their pups, we truly appreciate the hard work puppy owners do to test their pups in the NAVHDA natural ability.
When you get a pup from us, they will be registered with NAVHDA which will include a breeding restriction clause by the breeder, a one-year health guarantee that covers congenital health defects, and they will have received their first round of vaccinations and wormer. The pups will be socialized and have interactions with the other dogs in our kennel. We will introduce the pups to water, gunfire, and birds. We do not ship puppies.

We have our first stud dog! And he truly is the bestest boy! There is so much to say about Odin it's hard to know where to begin. As a pup he was the most laid-back guy, content to sniff the flowers and take lots of naps in the grass. When it came time to pick a pup, we enlisted the help of our trusted veterinarian and she helped us select both Odin and his sister Ember, not only for their demeanor at 8 weeks old but also their confirmation and confidence. As a 6 month old pup with very little formal training, on his first pheasant trip to Iowa, Odin learned quickly and produced several birds. In one particular instance, he had a rooster pinned but Mike wasn't yet confident in the little guy. Another great lesson in "trust your dog" ensued. Unfortunately the bird got away, but we knew there was something special about this pup.
If Odin had a motto, it would be there every day is a new day and it's going to be the greatest day ever. This dog VIBRATES with exuberant energy in the mornings and makes me smile on event the toughest days. His temperament is second to none. He has been barked at, pawed, postured against and a number of other behavioral situations with both male and female dogs and naturally handles himself with maturity and grace. He knows when to walk away and when to stand his ground. It's one of my favorite qualities about him. He is always ready to work and cooperative in training.
His confirmation is beautiful and his structure fits the breed standard almost perfectly. His head is broad with a pronounced stop and a balanced muzzle. His eyes are soft and expressive. His topline is straight and strong, thought slightly long. He has a broad deep chest and is bigger boned and stockier. He stands 25 inches at the shoulder and weighs a muscular 72 pounds. His coat is tight and coarse with good coverage on his chest and belly.
In the field he runs BIG! His points are staunch and intense and he loves to retrieve. We recently put on 11 miles in one day on a chukar hunt and he maintained his endurance through the whole hike. He picks things up quickly and loves to hunt. This season he will get his first duck hunting experience and we're confident he'll do well. He enters the water with enthusiasm and swims hard.
Odin also comes from excellent stock. His sire, VC Ripsnorter's Slate is a 2 time UT Prize 1 stud who became a Versatile Champion at the invitational in 2023 and is one of the 2 dogs that earned Ripsnorter Kennel the first ever Pudelpointer Invitational Breeder's Award. Slate's is out of, Audax Agnar Vom Oberland (UT Prize 1), and Dam, Ripsnorter's Hallelujah, aka "Glory" (NA 112 Prize 1), Ripsnorter Kennel's top producing dam with 3 NA, 1 UT and 1 IT Breeder's Awards.
Audax's progeny scores for NA average 105.6. The average for UT is 186.3. Glory's progeny scores for NA average 107.5. The average for UT is 197.3. Clearly, Slate comes from top producing parents.
Odin's Dam, Evony's progeny scores for NA have averaged 105.1. She has strong water drive and is a big runner in the field.
He earned is Utility Prize 1 this past summer and will be heading to the Invitational in New Mexico in 2026.
We are so excited to add Odin to the Lone Pine kennel and see what he produces.

We bought our first Pudelpointer, Callie, in 2010. Thanks to that fuzzy, energetic, and always happy pup we have embraced the breed and thoroughly enjoy sharing the joys of the Pudelpointer with other families. We have been breeding Pudelpointers since 2013 and have developed our line to preserve the characteristics and quality of this breed that we love so much. Our foremost goal is to provide dogs who are outstanding in the field and at home for hunters and their families. We work to pair dogs that will produce healthy, amenable, and cooperative pups that will have phenomenal performance in the field while also being calm and gentle in the house.
If you are interested in a Lone Pine pup, head over to our website where you will find all of the information on our dogs. You can find more photos of our pups on our Facebook page.

A Little About Our Kennel
We like to have a lot of conversations and get to know people who are interested in our pups and we reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone we deem to be an inappropriate match for our pups. It is extremely important to us that our pups go to good, loving homes and we do our best to help our buyers select the right pup for their families and hunting activities. So when you contact us, please tell us a little about yourself, and what you're looking for in your next hunting companion and family member. Feel free to ask us detailed questions about our kennel, our dogs and the breed in general. We truly enjoy the process of helping people find the right pudelpointer puppy for their family.
In addition to the NAPS breeding requirements, we train and handle all of our dogs in their NA Tests. So far, they have all earned a Prize 1. We also train an handle our dogs in their Utility tests. This allows us to better assess their natural level of cooperation and their ability to handle pressure. It also allows us to help our buyers going through the testing process if they need guidance.
We want to make sure we are contributing to the overall health of the pudelpointer breed as well as the performance. Starting in 2022, in addition to x-ray evaluations for hip dysplasia, we will begin having our upcoming breeding females OFA certified for healthy elbows as well. Additionally, in 2021 we ordered a full Embark DNA panel on our breeding females and will continue to do so in the future. We will also have full Embark DNA panels on all puppies produced by our kennel in order to develop a solid DNA history of our line.
We take our stud selection process very seriously. When seeking a stud for our girls, we usually start looking about 6 months before we expect the breeding to happen. We spend hours looking at pedigrees, talking to their owners and talking others who have used the studs we are interested in. We also inquire about the health information on the stud and the stud's progeny. We look at past pairings to females with similar pedigrees to ours to see how their progeny have performed and if any health issues stand out. We purchased our own personal copy of the Breedmate program so that we can check the breeding coefficient of each pairing we are considering. Temperament is one of our biggest considerations when selecting a stud. We also do not select any stud with a PennHip of more than .5 or an OFA score less than Good.
We sell our pups registered as "breed restricted" which means that if you breed your pup while the restriction is in place, you will not be able to register any pups from the litter. In order to lift the restriction on a pup for breeding, we require that you adhere to and complete the requirements set forth by the North American Pudelpointer Society. We require this because we feel that it is an important step in protecting our pups as well as maintaining the quality and integrity of future litters produced. Once our buyers meet the requirements, we gladly lift the restriction free of charge.
We prefer not to ship puppies to their new homes. Over the years, we have come to feel that it is too much of a risk and we would prefer our buyers to pick their puppies up in person. In fact, the cost to fly out to pick up a pup is generally less expensive than shipping a pup these days.
Regardless of your selection of breeder we encourage everyone going through the search for a puppy to read the NAPS Puppy Buyers Guide. It is full of great advice for anyone navigating through the process of buying a pudelpointer.
What you get when you get a pup from us
We take great pride in making our pups family dogs from an early age. Our litters are whelped in our living room under constant supervision and live there for their first 4 to 6 weeks. We sleep on the couch in the same room with the mom and pups through the first 3 to 4 days so we can be alerted if anything major happens. We handle the pups a few times a day to start and we gradually increase handling them as they get older. We play with their feet, lay them on their backs, mess with their mouths and just generally get them used to all sorts of interaction with us. When they get to about 2 to 3 weeks old we start allowing trusted friends and family to begin interacting with them as well.
We deworm our pups every two weeks starting when they are two weeks old. Their first solid food is around the 4 week mark, which is generally when they go outside for the first time as well. They get their first set of vaccinations when they are as close to 8 weeks old as we can get, depending on when they are going to home with their new families.
At 5 or 6 weeks we start to introduce the wing to develop their pointing instinct and tossing small toys for them to chase and "retrieve". We make it all fun and exciting for them. Once we've played the wing game a few times we discontinue that and start getting out the real birds, using frozen birds at first to let them smell and chew a little and even carry around. Then we move on to live birds that are not able to flap around too much. We bring them into the scent cone individually to see each pups attitude toward the birds. Many will be a little stand-offish at first but there are always those brave few who charge right in, pick up the bird and pack it around. Once they show confidence with live birds that don't fly, we fly birds around them to enhance their natural prey drive and make it very exciting for them. At 7 weeks we start getting them in the water and we may even get a few swimmers before 8 weeks. We do not pressure our pups in any way at this young age but make things fun and exciting and do what we can to develop their confidence and attachment to people.
Your pup will come to you already micro-chipped and registered with NAVHDA. We also provide a complimentary 1 year membership to the North American Pudelpointer Society and one month of puppy insurance through Trupanion. Additionally, we will provide you with your pups' personal Embark DNA panel results.
We are a small, family kennel with our 4th litter from Scout and Cash on the ground. Each of the three other litters from this pairing have earned a Natural Ability Breeders Award. The current litter was whelped 7/13 and we have 2 males and 1 female available.

“On Point Pudelpointers origin story begins with Sigbot “Bodo” Winterhelt as the first Pudelpointer the Skelton family received was bred and trained by Bodo. Javoule (Yah-Vool), one of Bodo's last litters was truly a versatile hunting dog that set such a precedent that the breed has now been part of the Skelton household for well over two decades. Javoule's outstanding natural working abilities in combination with intelligence, love for water, retrieving instinct, easy trainability and willingness to please was unwavering and precursory to their mainstay in the Skelton family.
As one of the finest performers in field tests, the Pudelpointer in its home country Germany has long been esteemed by those who enjoy and value dogs with strong desire and drive. These traits in concert with a sharp nose, birdiness, pointing instinct, and endurance help make the Pudelpointer one of the more worthy versatile hunting dogs both near and abroad. As their reputed protective nature would suggest, On Point Pudelpointers produces outstanding family dogs with working traits that meet high standards both a field and at home. Their loving nature and drive to be a warm and glowing member of the family is arguably their most favored trait!”
When you get a pup from On Point you will get a health certificate from our vet that also shows comparison between other siblings of the breeding. I also provide a buyback program if the buyer is not pleased with their dog within the first two years. If puppies are old enough and weather permits, they will have exposure to water.

LCM's Merit (PCNA PSB No. 1332) and Epic Vom Hundehaus (VPP 15702)
We are proud to announce that Merit, highly esteemed in her PCNA field accomplishments successfully whelped 4 male and 4 female puppies that will be ready for homes the 3rd week in June!
Both Merit and Epic meet the highest of standards set by their clubs, Pudelpointer Club of North America and the Verien Pudelpointer Club, respectively. As such, Merit in her first breeding in 2021 with another stud dog, produced three dogs from that litter that passed PCNA’s natural ability exam (NAE) in combination with the breed improvement test (BIT). This is likely an attribution to a strong lineage and genetic line curation by both clubs with additional German genetic influence. Merits paternal father was from Germany, Falko von der Hüvener Mühle!
Bodo Winterhelt’s lineage lives on in this breeding as only a single generation separates his line from On Point’s. The likelihood of a strong performing litter in the field in lieu of careful selection both past and present should wield exceptional dogs for both home and field. Please inquire about any additional details and availability with Garrett. (208) 818 - 9561
Merit has OFA hips GOOD and elbows NORMAL. Her PCNA Breed Improvement test results were 139 (Pass) with scores of 11 in 10 of 13 test areas.

Packmaster Gundogs is a family run program. All members of the household work together to socialize, train, hunt, and love on our pack; from Melissa the matriarch and master puppy whelper to Axel, our youngest of 5 children, the master of doggie dinner time and cuddles.
We are very passionate about (maybe even a little addicted to) the Pudelpointer breed and want to ensure the breed is kept in the homes of hunters, health is maintained, and the breed standard is preserved while sharing this wonderful breed with hunters across the country.
We aim to produce exceptional dogs that possess the cooperation levels and impulse control that make training by the average person easier. Health and a balanced, confident, and friendly temperament in conjunction with appropriate structural build and coat characteristics fitting the breed standard are paramount for us.
Performance wise, we aim to produce dogs with a strong natural retrieve drive, love of water, mid range search at medium pace to maintain performance for extended hunts.
We believe the world doesn't just need more Pudelpointers, it needs better ones, so we put a great amount of effort carefully selecting the perfect pairings that we think will both produce the type of dogs mentioned above and improve our line with each successive generation produced.
The Packmaster Difference:
Our dogs live and sleep in our home, not in a separate kennel building. Often times they can be found on our couch or sleeping in our kids' beds.
We use statistical analysis of hunt test results (German, VHDF, and NAVHDA), in person evaluation, and word of mouth from trusted sources to choose our pairings. We have created a 14,000+ dog global pudelpointer database and coded a proprietary software to help us select pairings and track our progress towards our goals.
We travel all over the US to attend NAVHDA tests and NAPS gatherings to watch pups we have produced, evaluate potential breeding prospects, and network with other breeders and owners.
We see the NAPS breeding requirements as a minimum standard and aim to far exceed them by testing our breeding stock to the highest level possible with the goal of proving their high end capabilities in the NAVHDA Invitational.
We train, test, and hunt our own dogs so we are intimately familiar with both their strengths and their deficiencies. Our dogs enjoy hunting trips in the northern Michigan grouse woods, southern Michigan wild pheasant fields, duck hunts on beaver ponds, lakes, streams, and marshes throughout the state, in addition to an occasional game farm. We have plans to begin exploring some out of state hunts to the prairies, mountains, and desert valleys to continue to evaluate their adaptability to differing terrain and species.
To ensure our breeding stock are passing on healthy traits, they are all genetically tested via Embark, screened for hip dysplasia through PennHip, and regularly evaluated by our reproductive veterinarian.
Puppy Buyer Info:
We screen buyers through an extensive application process then interview them through a phone or video call to discuss their expectations and to fully qualify them and determine if we have the correct pup for them. We don't keep a wait list or take deposits as we try to ensure we match the correct pup to the best possible home and hunting activity. We don't want money to become a factor so if you aren't happy with the puppy we selected for you on pickup day, we understand. There is no obligation nor hard feelings since in the end we want what's best for the pup. We won't produce a litter of pups that we aren't willing to keep ourselves. Just ask Melissa, she's always the one telling me "No, we can't keep another one"!
We hope and expect to be interviewed just as deeply to ensure a good fit and a lifelong trusting relationship is established, so ask away!
We treat our buyers as part of our family and try to stay in touch to support training or go hunting together.
What you get when you are selected to buy a Packmaster Pudelpointer:
Each puppy will go home having been developed using early neurological stimulation (AKA Superdog Training), early scent detection training to many different species of game, sound desensitization to at least a 209 primer gun, introduction to crate training and car rides, introduction to potty training, beginner clicker training to a number of different behaviors, microchipped, Embark DNA tested, vaccinated, dewormed, and registered with NAVHDA.
Puppies are taken on adventure walks daily through woods, thickets, fields of varying height and density, across streams, etc. Water exposure is guaranteed, but the form whether liquid or ice is dependent on time of year.
We begin puppy bite inhibition very early and many of our past buyers say despite their pups love for socks, underwear or shoes, they did not experience the puppy nipping that is all too common. Pups leave very well socialized by our family of 7, our friends, extended family, and pack of dogs.
We also provide all new puppy buyers with a complimentary NAPS membership, a 1 year individual NAVHDA international membership, 1 month of free Trupanion pet insurance and a comprehensive training and information guide as well as our personal support.
Our puppies are sold via a comprehensive contract that lays out the expectations for both parties.. The contract includes the requirements necessary to have the "breeding restrictions" lifted from the pup's NAVHDA registration at no charge. It also outlines our 2 year health guaranteed and the requirements necessary to qualify it to be extended to 5 years.
Lastly, Packmaster Gundogs has a NAVHDA testing loyalty program that is unmatched anywhere. Buyers have the ability to earn money off of a purchase of a future puppy dependent on the level of success obtained via NAVHDA testing their pup. Rewards extend up to and include a FREE puppy if the buyer earns a VC title.
Our History:
We got our first versatile dog in 2006, a GSP (Top Gun's Perfect Storm), joined the local NAVHDA group and began training for her NA. While training for her NA a guy in the group had a pudelpointer pup that was the same age and we fell in love with the breed. Fast forward 11 years later to 2017 Storm abruptly passed away in July from the rupture of a pancreatic tumor. We were blessed to get into a breeding from Ripsnorter's kennel shortly after and that October Frannie (Ripsnorter's Sent From Heaven) filled the gaping hole in our hearts and family. She turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more.

Scout is my first versatile dog and the first dog that I have ran in any testing. Scout is biddable, cooperative and was easy to train and quick to learn. He is very smart and retains what he learns and doesn’t seem to forget much when shown the proper way. He enjoys being around his friends and will want to play with other dogs of all sizes when allowed. He definitely wants to go, go, go, but when in the house he is ready to be in your lap or laying on a chair or couch.
Scout is a machine when it comes to field hunting. He loves to run and in large fields will make cast out to 200 or so yards. He typically starts with a far cast and gradually starts to hunt in closer as the hunt goes on. If he finds a bird while on a large cast, he will be waiting for you there. In his UT test and at the Invitational he was out of sight on a point for a while until we got up to him. For my first pointing dog it is odd to me as I was used to a flushing dog right out in front of me, but I have numerous judges, gunners and training partners that love his range. I’ve learned that it is ok and to trust the dog. He does not let me down and is honest on his birds. I typically tell the clients when I guide at a local preserve don’t be scared when they see him run out 200 yards like a rocket. Even if it takes us three minutes to walk to him, he isn’t going to take the bird out.
Scout has been hunted at several local preserves for pheasant and chukar and also does some guiding for pheasant, chukar and the occasional quail at one of the preserves. We hunt pheasant, woodcock and grouse on the gamelands and other private properties. When hunting for woodcock and grouse Scout will adjust his range for the job at hand.
Scout has retrieved numerous species of waterfowl to include puddle ducks, diving ducks, sea ducks and geese. He hunts mainly on the Susquehanna River as well as the Chesapeake Bay along with occasional pond hunts. He has made multiple mark retrieves in these locations and the cold January air and water temperatures do not phase him. He has hunted around ice on the river and bay and never hesitates when asked to make a retrieve. The only thing he probably can’t do that my 100 lb. Chesapeake Bay Retriever could do was to break through thicker ice.
Scout’s sire, Pine Ridge's Jazzy Rigel is a sire with 7 Sire of Breeder's Award for NA. On his dam side he has VC Fin Renard Donna Kenya (grandparent) and VC Bella Vom Graven Stein (great grandparent). I’ve been told by numerous people that Scout has the looks and the pedigree to pass on good traits and to help improve the breed.

Lorax is an even-tempered and efficient hunter. His best traits are his cooperation and trainability. Lorax has proven his hunting ability with furred and feathered game to include quail, duck, woodcock, squirrel, rabbit, dove, and white-tailed deer. He achieved his UT prize 2 at the young age of 2 years old with a first-time trainer. Lorax is a medium ranging dog with the determination, drive, and endurance to do long hunts. He is also a perfect family companion, able to connect with people, is gentle with children, and displays high emotional intelligence. Lorax has been a family dog since day 1 and we can’t imagine living without him. I am more than excited to watch Lorax’s bloodline continue and make Pudelpointers the best versatile breed they can be.

Websters definition of Ripsnorter is "One that is remarkable for strength, intensity, and/or excellence". Jeff George has been a proud breeder of Pudelpointers since 2007, and has even more experience with other breeds before this. While he used to raise specifically German Wirehaired Pointers under the Ripsnorter prefix, he branched out to the more versatile side of them and fell in love with his first Pudelpointer, Okra.
Jeff has tested many dogs in NAVHDA through the years in the Natural Ability, Utility, and Versatile Champion test, many receiving Prize I ranking scores. He has brought his love for hunting to his grandchildren as well, who have both tested dogs in NAVHDA, and his grandaughter, Hadley, is now helping to take over the legacy of Ripsnorter Kennel. We are members of and proud approved breeders of the North American Pudelpointer Society, as it is the most dignified and prestigious system for top quality Pudelpointers and their according breeders.
Ripsnorter Kennel is currently taking applications for puppies due February 2024

Memphis is very cooperative and in absolutely no way aggressive. He is mainly a retriever but is good in the field chasing upland birds. He is a medium range dog in the field ranging up to 150yds. In water is where he excels as he has the size and strength to power through all types of marsh, fields, and over logs. He has hunted ducks in Kansas and TN and loves it!
A Little About Us
Smokn’ Creek Pudelpointers is located smack dab in the middle of the United States. We are seven and a half miles southwest of Russell, Kansas. Our kennel is in a location that has access to numerous acres of hunting and training land for both upland and waterfowl.
Our goal is to provide families with lifetime hunting partners. We strive to do our part in keeping the integrity of the breed and to assure those who purchase our pups will have a family member for the lifetime of the dog.
Pup information
Our puppies are whelped in the house and the pups will have supervision throughout the 8 weeks at our kennel. Our puppies will go through the Biosensor program on days 3-16. They will go on car rides to the vet, experience many different outside surroundings. They will be handled by family members throughout their 8 weeks.
They will be introduced to birds and water (weather permitting) at 6 weeks. At 7-8 weeks we start placing them in crates and begin the potty-training process. We start the deworming process at 2 weeks and at around 8 weeks will have a health check by our vet and their first round of vaccinations before we send them home. We will also have the puppies registered with NAVHDA and the buyer will receive the pup’s pedigree in the mail. The buyers will get a puppy packet that includes a vaccination schedule, feeding information, Smokn’ Creek swag. A year’s membership with NAPS and NAVHDA will be included in the packet. We will do our best to expose the pups to many different things throughout their first 8 weeks with a goal to have a healthy confident pup when they are ready to go home.

A Little About Us
We purchased our first versatile dog in 2019. Shortly thereafter, I joined NAVHDA and the Heartland Chapter out of Brainard, NE. Since that time, I have tested three of my dogs in the Natural Ability Test. We hunt our dogs mostly on quail and pheasant and started raising pups in 2023. We raised one litter in 2023 and another in 2024. We plan to raise two litters in 2025. We take this responsibility very seriously making every effort to insure the puppies represent the pudelpointer breed standards, are healthy, and placed in good homes.
Our breeding program goals:
1. Selectively mate dogs that have a history of excellence in their pedigree. (We use testing results throughout their pedigree to arrive at a determination).
2. Selectively mate dogs that have produced puppies that perform well in tests. (NAVHDA test results)
3. Select sires that have been DNA tested for furnishings (homozygous for furnishings) to insure all of our puppies will have furnishings.
4. Select breeding stock that represent the quality standards of the breed.
5. Never compromise quality for quantity.
6. Stay small and stay relevant.
7. Screen placements in an effort to ensure the pup is going to a good home. Families with kids and hunt are the perfect environment for our pups.
OUR MISSION:
Top Terrace Pudelpointers is a small breeding operation located in the rolling hills of western Iowa close to Harlan. My wife, Pam, daughter, Toshia, granddaughter, Tianna, grandson, Teagon, and I all have an active role in producing puppies that will carry on the legacy of the breed. We aspire to produce puppies that will represent the breed standards, make excellent hunting companions, and be the perfect house dog willing to take a place beside you or crash in front of the fireplace. We will remain small, two breeding females, affording us the time to ensure each pup is properly socialized and has a variety of exposures prior to going to their forever home.
We are extremely selective when choosing dogs to use in our breeding program. Temperament is always one of our most important considerations. We place many of our pups in homes with children of all ages necessitating a temperament tolerant of behaviors we might expect from a child. In addition to temperament, we research pedigrees, test scores, progeny test scores, and evaluate conformation and physical traits to ascertain a dog’s “FIT” for our breeding program. Also, a stud dog must have had a DNA profile and documented genotype for furnishings. All our pups will have furnishings. Some pups may have a tighter coat than others.
Once you purchase a pup from us, you become a member of the Top Terrace family where our support is unconditional. We value our pups beyond their time in our home and make every effort to stay in touch with each of our families. Your success and satisfaction is important to us. Each puppy goes to their new home with a blanket, puppy chew toys, a bag of food, treats, a training guide for the 1st year, a health/vaccination/worming record, and a new hat with our kennel name embroidered on the front. We provide a puppy contract with a health guarantee. We also handle and cover the cost of the pup's NAVHDA registration so our buyers don't have to.
We believe prey drive to be closely associated with pedigree. Our pups will have Ripsnorter in their pedigrees. We believe in this line and are witnessing pups from this line excel in the field and in the water.
We invite you to visit our website listed in this ad to learn more about Top Terrace Pudelpointers, our dogs, and to see our puppies working the fields and water.

About Tucker
Tucker has shown to be a natural hunting dog from a very young age. His first retrieve of a wild animal was a live wild piglet he caught while tagging along with me and my other dogs on a duck scouting trip. Tucker brought this fully intact pig to me from out of the blue, I have a video of it.
Tucker is an enthusiastic hunter and quick learner during training sessions. His retention of trained scenarios is very impressive. Tucker earned a NAVHDA Natural Ability max score 112 at 7 months old and his Utility Test max score 204 at 21 months old. Tucker also has two HRC started passes and a HRC seasoned pass, my friend handled him for one of those while I attended a family member's funeral. Tucker has been trained by me with help from my close training friends, we are all amateurs at best.
In the home he is a gentle family member, friendly to all other people and dogs. Tucker is a relentless duck searcher on wild duck hunts and during hunt tests. He has very keen marking ability also. Upland hunting is very much in his wheelhouse. So far, he has hunted wild pheasants, quail, prairie chickens, sharptail grouse, and woodcock successfully in his young career with plans for more hunts this coming fall.
Tucker comes from very strong genetic backgrounds. He shares the lines of some of the most respected Ripsnorter and Oxbow kennel produced pudelpointers. The sky is the limit for this young pudelpointer. Tucker earned the title of Versatile Champion at the 2025 NAVHDA Invitational Test. At the age of 3 years and 2 months he was the youngest Pudelpointer to earn the coveted title of VC during the 2025 test. I hope to continue to strengthen the pudelpointer genetic lines with puppies out of Tucker.

Meet Noonan:
VC Ripsnorter’s Shoot and Miss MHA, RDX, NSTRA Am. Champ “Noonan” is an exceptional dog by any standard. He embodies the ideal blend of intelligence, trainability, and hunting prowess that sets him apart in the field and at home.
Exceptional Trainability and Achievements: Noonan is one of the most trainable dogs I have ever encountered. His high hunter IQ, coupled with an unmatched drive and biddability, makes him a standout performer. At exactly two years of age, Noonan earned a NAVHDA Utility Prize 1 with a maximum score, a testament to his skill and trainability. The very next day, he made history as the first Pudelpointer to achieve a Master Hunter title in AKC. He is currently one of the most decorated, if not the most decorated, Pudelpointer in North America. His list of accomplishments is nothing short of extraordinary:
Titles/Achievements:
- NA Prize II
- UT Prize I (204) at 24 months
- Versatile Champion (VC) 2024

- AKC Lifetime Achievement (First Pudelpointer in history)

- Coat: Medium Dense, Medium Harsh
- Bite: Normal
- Color: Black
- Temperament: Excellent
- Penn Hip: 0.26 R and 0.26 L
Field Excellence: In the field, Noonan is a hard-charging dog who excels at finding and pinning down wild birds. His versatility allows him to adjust his range based on terrain and game, whether it’s stretching out beyond 250 yards for chukar and Hungarian partridge or staying within 100-150 yards in tight pheasant cover. He has proven himself on a wide variety of game, including:
- Ruffed Grouse
- Pheasants
- Hungarian Partridge
- Chukar
- Sharp-Tailed Grouse
- Valley Quail
- Prairie Chickens
- Sage Grouse
- Woodcock
- Numerous waterfowl species
Noonan’s natural backing instincts and steadiness to wing, shot, and fall make him a pleasure to hunt behind. Witnessing him point birds or back other dogs from over 100 yards away is a true gift.
Water Work Mastery: Noonan’s water work is nothing short of exceptional. He is a relentless cripple-bird finder and will search tirelessly for fallen game, sometimes for over 30 minutes if needed. He handles blind retrieves at distances exceeding 100 yards with ease, showcasing his precision and determination. Watching him in the water is both inspiring and entertaining.
