We purchased our first Pudelpointer Skye in February 2020 and quickly fell in love with the Pudelpointer breed so much so that we started a search for our second Pudelpointer. We were fortunate enough to get Rosie (Pioneer Ginger Rose ) September 2021 from Pioneer Pudelpointers.

We are not a large breeder with multiple litters each year, we breed our female to produce quality family dogs that will excel in the field as well as in the water and live in your home with you as a family member, friend and companion. We hunt with our Pudelpointers and live with them in our home, and they adore our grandchildren.

Smokn’ Creek Pudelpointers is located smack dab in the middle of the United States. We are seven and a half miles southwest of Russell, Kansas. Our kennel is in a location that has access to numerous acres of hunting and training land for both upland and waterfowl.

Our goal is to provide families with lifetime hunting partners. We strive to do our part in keeping the integrity of the breed and to assure those who purchase our pups will have a family member for the lifetime of the dog.

Pup information

Our puppies are whelped in the house and the pups will have supervision throughout the 8 weeks at our kennel. Our puppies will go through the Biosensor program on days 3-16. They will go on car rides to the vet, experience many different outside surroundings. They will be handled by family members throughout their 8 weeks.
They will be introduced to birds and water (weather permitting) at 6 weeks. At 7-8 weeks we start placing them in crates and begin the potty-training process. We start the deworming process at 2 weeks and at around 8 weeks will have a health check by our vet and their first round of vaccinations before we send them home. We will also have the puppies registered with NAVHDA and the buyer will receive the pup’s pedigree in the mail. The buyers will get a puppy packet that includes a vaccination schedule, feeding information, Smokn’ Creek swag. A year’s membership with NAPS and NAVHDA will be included in the packet. We will do our best to expose the pups to many different things throughout their first 8 weeks with a goal to have a healthy confident pup when they are ready to go home.

Bear has turned out to be everything we could hope for. He is a very biddable dog. His desire to hunt is outstanding and his nose is unbelievable. He is a joy to train and hunt behind. We have become a great team and once he is out of the box it is all business. Bear is a perfect gentleman in the house and his accomplishments speak for themselves passing the Invitational on his first attempt.

Zeke will put a smile on your face as you watch him attack a field when it comes time to train or hunt. His desire and drive are about as high as it gets. After seeing him in the field you would never think he could shut that off in the house, but he does. It’s amazing!

Zeke will receive a Sire’s of Breeder’s Award in his first breeding from the summer of 2022. We plan to breed him to Smokn’ Creek Cleopatra in 2025.

Zeke has qualified for the 2024 Invitational, and we plan on running him in Iowa.

Rain had her first litter in the summer of 2022 and whelped 5 pups. Two of those pups were tested and both received NA 112 Prize 1

Rain is a sweetheart. She has the desire and drive like Zeke. She loves to hunt and would like to all day long if you would let her. She is an awesome mom and is great in the house.

Smokn’ Creek Cleopatra “Cleo” is a Bear/Rain pup

Cleo has shown promising signs so far. Her desire, drive and biddability is like her sire (Bear). She is the first pup that I have seen that didn’t have to do the tracking section in the NA test because she showed the judges her ability to track in the field when she tracked 3 quail 40 yards and then went on point. I was a proud papa.

Nelli has also impressed us with her desire and drive. She has been to Iowa and South Dakota hunting pheasants and is turning out to be a great addition to our kennel.
